Octoboefest! 2009

The 13th Annual Octoboefest! concert is on Sunday, Novemboe 1, 2009, at 7:00 PM in Steadman Theatre at Mansfield University. Octoboefest! is a chamber music recital featuring the double reed students from the studio of Dr. Susan Laib. The program typically lasts about an hour and includes various instrumental combinations and all members of the double reed family.
For the fourth year, there will also be a guest double reed ensemble of area junior high and high school oboe and bassoon students. Of special significance this year is that both ensembles will be premiering works written for them. Composer and 2004 MU alum Jeffrey Tylutki has been commissioned to compose two works for Octoboefest! One piece will be premiered by the MU Double Reed Ensemble, and the other will be premiered by the Guest Ensemble of junior high and high school students.
The recital is held in an intimate atmosphere as the performers and audience share the Steadman Theatre stage. It is also free and open to the public.
