The first Shale Speaker Series will be held on Thursday, September 12th. During this session, Eric Volkman from the U.S. Geological Survey will present Potential Roles of the USGS in Unconventional Oil and Gas development in the Marcellus Play and Beyond.
This presentation will be an examination of the unique abilities, and limitations, of the United States Geological Survey and the role the Survey could play in ongoing and future exploration and development. This talk will include an outline of all the capabilities of the USGS that will be important to hydrofracking exploration and development in the future with a particular emphasis on the aquatic ecology focus of the USGS Northern Appalachian Research Laboratory located in the Wellsboro, PA.
The presentation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in G1 Retan Center. The presentation is free and open to the campus community and general public. Light refreshments will be served.
