On Sunday, September 8th at 2:30 PM in Steadman Theater, soprano Alissa Rose and pianist Shellie Gregorich will present a brief and varied song recital, including Purcell's The Blessed Virgin's Expostulation, a set of popular Schubert Lieder, including Nacht und Träume and Gretchen am Spinnrade, and two sets of songs by women composers. The first, Six Chansons Françaises, is a set of songs by Germaine Tailleferre, the only female member of the famous group of French composers commonly called Les Six. The final group of songs on the program is the Three Dream Portraits of Margaret Bonds, settings of poetry of Langston Hughes. The concert is free and open to the public.
